Hex bolts for every job
A hex bolt (hexagon head bolt) is the most common fastener in construction, fabrication and machinery. It has a six-sided head that is tightened with a spanner or socket, and is used with a matching hex nut and washer.
Full thread vs half thread
- Full thread (hex set screw / DIN 933 / IS 1364 Part 2): threaded right up to the head. Best when you need maximum grip length or are fastening into a tapped hole.
- Half thread (DIN 931 / IS 1364 Part 1): has a plain shank under the head. The shank takes shear load better, so it is preferred in structural joints and machinery.
Choosing the grade
